Get the right type of ostomy skin barrier Our flat wafers fit for those whose stomas protrude from the body more than a quarter of an inch. The flat wafer is very flexible in order to accommodate the contours of one’s body. NOTE: For shorter stoma protrusions, or for the stomas that lay flat or retreat inwards from the skin, the better option may be a convex wafer. Tip 2. Measure your stoma to get the right size for your skin barrier A skin barrier that doesn’t provide a snug fit may allow stomal output to seep under or around it, which results in leakage. Stoma sizes and shapes can gradually alter over time. It’s important to regularly measure your stoma to be sure you’re still getting a good snug fit. Tip 3. Apply your ostomy skin barrier to clean, dry, shaved skin Be sure your peristomal skin is dry before applying your pouching system If you have body hair in the peristomal area, carefully shave the area with a clean safety razor. Tip 4. Consider using an ostomy belt for additional security. If your ostomy pouch leakage occurs most frequently during physical activity or movement, you may need additional support in the form of an ostomy belt. Tip 5. Make sure you’re emptying or changing out your pouch frequently The fuller your ostomy bag gets, the more it weighs down and pulls against the seal around your stoma. Just empty your pouch as soon as it’s around 1/3 full. Also, if you primarily experience leaks during the nighttime, be sure to empty your pouch before bed as well. Tip 6. Avoid pancaking in your colostomy bag Pancaking is a term used to describe what happens when thicker ostomy output doesn’t drop to the pouch’s bottom. Instead, it may collect near the top of the pouch or even around the stoma. You can try a few easy lifestyle changes to help soften your stool. Make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. NOTE: Intended for use by patients with stoma problems.Change the bag more frequently if used for ileostomy, because the excrement of ileostomy is in liquid form and has digestive enzymes, more irritating to the skin than another colostomy.Adhesive ability will be affected by continuous use.If the bag is full of air, venting through the observation window is allowed by placing a small hole at the top of the bag. Ostomy bag cannot be thrown directly into toilet or cloaca, and and should be disposed of properly.Patients allergenic to adhesive should use it with caution. 10 PCS Colostomy Bags with Hook and Loop Closure 10PCS Colostomy Bags with Clamp Closure 15PCS Colostomy Bags + 5 PCS Skin Barriers 15PCS Colostomy Bags + 5 PCS Skin Barriers 10 Pcs Skin Barrier with Non-Woven Border 10 Pcs Skin Barrier One-Piece System Two-Piece System ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ with Hook and Loop Closure ✓ ✓ with Clamp Closure ✓ ✓ Skin Barrier NO Skin Barrier NO Skin Barrier 5Pcs Skin Barriers 5Pcs Skin Barriers ✓ ✓
