Encourage the mother to breathe slowly and regularly, which will help her and the baby. If she is very anxious, ask her to take a deep breath and slowly exhale her lips while relaxing her shoulders. For lower back pain when the baby's back is against the mother's back and during the second stage of labor, use the massage technique mentioned above and also acupressure. Place your index fingers or thumbs on the acupressure points (see picture 2) and press gradually. Working from the lower acupressure points to the waist, hold the pressure at its peak for three to five seconds, then gradually release. This can revitalize the body and is good for tight muscles and nervous tension.
